Academy of Music and Sound Exeter Students Love Liverpool
Enrichment runs at the Academy of Music and Sound has always been a major part of the offer to young musicians, this year though the bar was raised immensely with a 4 day visit to Liverpool Sound City festival.
Academy of Music and Sound Exeter first year students were lucky enough to attend over the early May Bank holiday weekend.
Students from all over the country enjoyed the trip immensely,
First year BTEC student Lauren Harris:
‘My favourite band of Sound City was Marmozets. I hadn’t heard of them before seeing them on the Saturday, and they were very entertaining. It was really cool to see a female singer do screaming type vocals as well as sing. She is a new inspiration of mine. I wasn’t expecting the show to be so inclusive, bands generally stay on stage away from the audience but Marmozets jumped the barrier, literally, and brought the drum kit with them to the centre of the crowd!’
First year BTEC student Sam Caschere:
“My favourite band performing at the weekend was Royal Blood, they are a two piece hard rock band – bassist and drummer. I really liked the energy of their performance and the way they conveyed emotion to the crowd. I especially liked how they created such a big sound from only two people. It was good to see a band on the threshold of becoming quite famous.”
