The Creative Industries course allows you to focus on on music performance, technology and the music industry, giving you a wealth knowledge and skills.

WHAT IS IT?

The NC Creative Industries is a SCQF Level 6 course. Through practical and vocational study, you will specialise in one of three Creative Industries pathways:
• Music Performance
• Music Business
• Music Technology

HOW LONG IS IT FOR?

The NC Creative Industries is available as a 24 week course, running from January to June.

ENTRY

You should have National 4 English and two further SQA subjects at National 4/5 level. For those looking to pursue a music performance pathway, you will also need to take part in an audition to demonstrate instrumental ability.

WHAT DO I COME OUT WITH AT THE END?

An SQA National Certificate in Creative Industries and two National Progression Awards (NPA), one in Music Business and one in Music Performance (SCQF Level 6).

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Following the NC Creative Industries (Music Performance) you can progress to HNC or a HND.

WHAT SUBJECTS WILL I STUDY?

The focus of the NC Creative Industries course is to offer you a broad introduction to life working in the Creative Industries. You will gain real world experience of working on a Creative Industries project of your choice, which could involve delivering a recorded music project, organising a series of workshops, developing a blog, composing music for films and games, or organising and performing at your own events.

Throughout the program, priority will be given to skills which are transferable to a number of professions within the Creative Industries. Where possible, you will be given the chance to apply your learning in the real-world via internship and work experience opportunities with our network of local industry partners.
